Visionary Consulting Partners, LLC (VCP) is supporting the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Office of Mental Health and Suicide Prevention (OMHSP) in evaluating recent public service announcements (PSAs) focused on suicide prevention.

In July 2022, the United States Congress instituted the new nationwide 3-digit Suicide and Crisis Lifeline number – 988. Replacing the previous 10-digit number (1-877-273-8255), Veterans can call 988 then press 1 to reach the Veterans Crisis Line (VCL) to speak with trained crisis responders who can help in times of need. 

The VA is conducting a survey for insight from Veterans and those transitioning from active duty (ages 18+) to:

1. Understand how Veterans receive and perceive the Dial 988 then Press 1 media campaign.
2. Assess awareness and engagement with the VCL campaign following the number change.
3. Ensure optimal outreach of the VCL both inside and out of the VA system.

Participation is voluntary, participant information will remain anonymous, and the survey should take no more than 25 minutes to complete. While suicide will be mentioned, which may be distressing for some, we will not ask for any sensitive information. If at any time you feel at risk, please feel free to discontinue participation.

If you choose to take this survey, you may also have the opportunity to join a focus group to share any additional thoughts regarding the campaign or our outreach efforts.
