As the COO of Visionary Consulting Partners, I am honored to reflect on this National Women Veterans Recognition Day — a day that holds deep personal and professional significance for me. This annual celebration on June 12th is not a separate Veterans Day for women, but a day to recognize, honor, and remember the signing of the Women’s Armed Services Integration Act. This landmark legislation allowed women the right to permanently serve in the regular armed forces, a right that has profoundly shaped our nation’s military and society for the better.
I am incredibly proud to be married to a remarkable woman Veteran, Eleanor (Ellie) Thornton M.S., MCHES, AE-C, who is not only a dedicated service member but also the President and CEO of Visionary Consulting Partners, LLC. Her journey and leadership inspire me daily, and our shared commitment to supporting Veterans is the foundation of our business. Women have always played crucial roles in America’s wars and conflicts, from the Revolutionary War to the present day. They have served as soldiers, raised morale, and even gone to great lengths of disguising themselves as men to fight for their country.
Thankfully, today women serve in all military occupational specialties, including logistics, munitions, intelligence, and combat roles. Their contributions are vital to achieving the most professional, educated, agile, and strongest military the U.S. has ever seen. As we honor these incredible women, we celebrate their courage, resilience, and unwavering dedication to our nation. Their legacy continues to inspire and drive us at Visionary Consulting Partners, as we strive to make a meaningful difference in the lives of Veterans and their families.
