In honor of Black History Month, Visionary Consulting Partners, LLC would like to take this opportunity to recognize the undying legacy of black perseverance and achievement in the history of the African diaspora. Celebrated annually in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, and now the Netherlands, the story of Black History Month began in 1915 when the Harvard trained historian Carter G. Woodson and the prominent minister Jesse E. Moorland founded the Association for the Study of Negro Life and History (ASNLH), an organization dedicated to researching and promoting achievements by Black Americans and other peoples of African descent. Now known as the Association for the Study of African American Life and History (ASALH), the group sponsored a national Negro History Week in 1926, choosing the second week of February to coincide with the birthdays of Abraham Lincoln and Frederick Douglass. In the following decades, mayors of cities across America began issuing yearly proclamations recognizing Negro History Week. Due to the Civil Rights Movement and a growing awareness of black identity in the 1960s, Negro History Week had evolved into Black History Month on many college campuses. In 1976, Gerald Ford, the 38th President of the United States, called upon the public to “seize the opportunity to honor the too-often neglected accomplishments of Black Americans in every area of endeavor throughout our history,” as America officially recognized Black History Month nationwide.

As a Woman and African American owned small business, we owe our success in part to the extraordinary sacrifices many brave and exceptional people of color have made before us. Visionary understands that we stand on the shoulders of giants, and we would like to send our most heartfelt regards to other black and minority owned small business out there who, like Visionary, continue to push the legacy of black perseverance, innovation and achievement forward towards an even better future for us all.
